HubPages: passive income or not?
65Yesterday evening I was drinking coffee in front of my laptop and looking through different hubs about passive income when suddenly I asked myself: whether writing on HubPages is a passive income or not? Some hubbers consider that it's really a kind of passive income like shares or your bank account, because once you've written a hub you can receive money from it daily owing to Google AdSense, Amazon or eBay. But some think that writing on HubPages can hardly be added to passive income.
Do you think that HubPages is a kind of passive income?
See results without votingI personally think that writing hubs is quite close to passive income: you write a hub, try to attract more traffic and those people who read your hubs bring you money clicking on advertisements that are situated on your page. And even if you have a rest somewhere lying on the beach, bathing in the sun and swimming in warm caressing sea you can earn money from Google AdSense. Yeah! That is the main reason why people think that HubPages provides a kind of passive income. It seems easy: you have a rest but at the same time you receive money.
But let's look at this situation from the other side. If you just register on HubPages and don't write hubs and don't take part in HubPages Community, will you receive any money? Certainly NO!
That's the answer. If you want to earn money you should write and write qualified hubs to increase your traffic and your possible income. As a wise proverb says: no pains, no gains.
But in the end I'd like to add that I like HubPages because it's a nice place to learn more in those spheres that you are interested in, here I can spend many hours a day because it brings me pleasure. And certainly like the majority of people here I try to earn money, but it's not the main purpose of being on HubPages. I'm usually happy like a child when my HubScore increases or when I receive new answers in my poll, etc. So it's a place where one can receive pleasure and earn money at the same time. Isn't it great?

Gennifer I love hubpages too. I do not write to make money here , I just want to have fun . Now I am making a little bit of money here and there and that Is gratifying . But I like to write simply because It Is what I love to do. Do what you love and If you get paid double win . But I win because I love to do It and enjoy the process . How can that be bad ? Welcome to hubpages !
I began writing to earn money on hubpages, however if I were on here for the money I'd be long gone, because making money is slow going. I developed a love for writing and also reading hubs, so money is the secondary reason. I too like to see my hubscore improve. Thanks for sharing.
Writing on hubpages is such an open platform, if you write well, you can do well. I write a lot without the intention of making money, just for fun, or to help out.
Thanks for sharing this hub. I came here looking for a platform to increase my revenue but have found a home.
Nice hub Gennifer. I joined hubpages when i decided to try my hands on making money online. However along the way, it has become a place where making money is now almost secondary to the fun and excitement i get when i log in. I first jump to the forums to see whats going on, what my HP family has been up to while away from home. And it has become an addiction now. Then check my traffic and lastly Adsense. It used to be Adsense first not anymore. I love it so much here i have been neglecting my Squidoo account for months now.
Being on HP is such a pleasure.
Thanks for joining my fan club. I want to read more of your hubs, so i've joined your fan club too.
Enjoy.
You are right, it takes effort. I think it takes a long time and many good hubs to make a passive income here. I wish I had more time to devote to doing more hubs. I am glad I discovered hubpages, it's addictive. I hope I am here for the long haul.

I agree with you, that if you want to earn money on HubPages - you should do a good job before and after that it can become your passive income.
